PAT: BRONX

Born and raised in the Bronx, Pat, 27, has always been very hands-on in all aspects of his life.

Young Adult Recovery StoryThis includes working for his father’s construction company, with the hope of eventually running it himself. However, like many others who struggle with substance use disorders, Pat’s addiction took its toll. His father lost faith in his ability to run the family business, and he turned to burglary to support his use. After six months in another program that left him feeling isolated, Pat transferred into Odyssey House.

Since arriving at the Leadership Center, Pat has made significant progress. He works hard to engage in treatment and be proactive in his recovery. A lifelong sports enthusiast, he enjoys playing on the softball team. Being on the team has been an important part of his recovery, as the camaraderie on the field has translated to strong connections with his peers in the program.

After Pat completes treatment, he looks forward to showing his family that with his new recovery mindset, he will be ready to take over the family business, when the time comes.
