ADMINISTRATION FOR CHILDREN’S SERVICES

Odyssey House supports the mission of the Administration for Children’s Services (ACS) to promote the safety and well-being of New York City’s children and families.

We also understand how challenging that can be when drugs or alcohol may be involved in any case of reported child abuse.

To assist ACS Child Protective Specialists, we staff a full-time, credentialed alcoholism and substance abuse counselor at ACS’s office at 2501 Grand Concourse in the Bronx. Our counselor provides comprehensive screenings of ACS client families to assess the extent of drug or alcohol use in a home and recommend an appropriate course of action.

If a need is determined, our counselor can then facilitate admission into an appropriate Odyssey House outpatient or residential treatment and recovery program, or to another New York treatment program more convenient to the individual or family’s home. Our counselor works closely with ACS Child Protective Specialists every step of the way to make sure their clients’ needs are best served.

ACS clients have demonstrated high levels of participation in and completion of Odyssey House programs. Through our Family Centers of Excellence, we have more than 40 years’ experience in helping mothers and children stay together during treatment, promoting stronger and healthier families. This includes providing mothers and pregnant women with essential health care, family counseling, and parenting and childcare classes, as well as on-site daycare and preschool programs for their children.

To request assistance with a New York City family you’re trying to help, contact our full-time assessment and referral counselor at ACS in the Bronx at 718-319-7121, or talk to an Odyssey House admissions specialist at 866-888-7880.
