JUSTICE SYSTEM REFERRALS

Our clients come from all walks of life within our community, including those incarcerated for non-violent crimes directly related to their substance abuse issues.

Within the Odyssey House Admissions Department, we have court liaisons who act as advocates for our residents and work to ensure an environment of cooperation with the court systems.

Our court liaisons interview and assess individuals with non-violent crimes for placement into Odyssey House, and work with judges, district attorneys, and defense attorneys to work towards a positive outcome for our clients. We attend Family and Criminal Courts proceedings with our clients to provide support, clear and concise communications and family reunification.

We also run the Edgecombe Residential Treatment Program, a comprehensive substance abuse treatment program designed to reduce the risk of re-incarceration. It is a collaborative effort by Odyssey House, NYS Division of Parole, NYS Division of Criminal Justice Services, and NYS Department of Correctional Services.

THE EDGECOMBE RESIDENTIAL TREATMENT CENTER OFFERS:

  • 10-30 day intensive chemical dependency treatment program delivered within the correctional facility
  • Group and individual counseling
  • Relapse prevention planning
  • Anger management skills training
  • On-site self-help recovery meetings
  • Smoking cessation treatment
  • Vocational rehabilitation
  • Family education
  • Parenting group

Our program employs evidence-based practices that assist our clients with coping with past trauma, moderating problematic behavior, adopting socially productive values, and developing recovery-oriented daily living skills.
