It’s never been tougher to be a teenager. In addition to challenges at home and school, increased pressure from social media and bullying drive many teens to use alcohol and drugs. Increasingly, that includes heroin and other opioids.
At Odyssey House, we’re not here to preach to you about drugs. And we’re not going to tell you how to live your life either. But we can teach you new skills to overcome the challenges you’re facing, so you can live a healthy life on your own terms.
Odyssey House provides individual, group, and family therapy for adolescents 12 to 17 years old through our outpatient services program. Family sessions are offered in our facility in the Bronx as well as in homes. We also provide support groups and family luncheons and other activities designed to promote positive social interaction.
Designed specifically for teens, our highly successful NY-SAINT (New York Serving Adolescents In Need of Treatment) program employs proven, evidence-based practices, including:
ADOLESCENT COMMUNITY REINFORCEMENT APPROACH (A-CRA)
A-CRA is a behavioral treatment method that helps NY teens build social, familial and educational connections that reinforce positive motivation and improve drug/alcohol refusal skills. The program will also help you improve your communication, problem-solving and job-finding skills.
THE SEVEN CHALLENGES PROGRAM
The Seven Challenges program provides a framework for making your own decisions about your life and use of drugs and alcohol. Working with a counselor, you’ll understand what personal needs you may be fulfilling through substance use, discover the risks and costs associated with using chemicals to fulfill your personal needs, and learn a new course of action to live a healthy, drug-free life.
